The bigger the financial investment in the date, the more the boy’s side is going to be picky and try to not “waste” time and money on a girl who may be shayach but not 110% what he has in mind. And the girl who he doesn’t go out with because of that could have been a great shidduch. Is it worth it to be picked up in an expensive rented car when the cost is making an already difficult process even harder?
