Kosher Delight, the iconic restaurant which has been an Avenue J landmark since, has sadly closed. Kosher Delight, founded and operated by the Huberfeld family, has been serving the Flatbush community since 1979.
After closing its other branches in Boro Park (in 2011) and Manhattan (in 2012) due to financial problems, KD’s flagship location has finally succumb to a similar fate.
Citing financial distress as the reason behind its abrupt closer, the once popular Kosher Delight franchise is gone. Many families and an older generation will miss their fast food and inexpensive prices.
It is unknown what will be opening in its place.

Inexpensive. Great food. My kids’ favorite spot. Friendly service. Accommodating (Bishul Yisroel Beis Yosef). Possibly the best hechshar in Flatbush. Oy.
I thought they closed the other stores because the rent was way to high? Where is Nachman Caller?
Maybe if the prices were a bit lower more people would have frequented KD keeping them in business. Bottom line dinner at KD for an average frum family was way north of $100. That being said I was a big fan of KD (all 3 of them) and hope they can reopen in smaller cheaper rent areas.

I assume the landlord is going to ask for an excessive rent that only a bank will be willing to pay, so we’ll have another bank on J.
I’m gonna miss my hot-poppers and the sign reminding me to make good berachos and to bentch. Maybe this is all a bad dream.

They were pretty good, but there were more affordable options available. The Kosher food industry changed but they kept the same business model after it was outdated and went out of business. While sad, thats the way business works, adapt to changes in the market or fail. Sorry to see it go
Question is which bank will call the old KD site it’s home? I will say Astoria Bank…..
i never went there cause they were so expensive, and parking is a nightmare. so many better options nearby
in what world besides propaganda is KD inexpensive, it is a total rip off,not to mention all the Pakistanis and other Ebola like workers there. I will NOT miss it.
Maybe another bank will open on that corner? We need more banks!!!! Never enough.

We really enjoy chinese takeout. When teh BP store closed down, we went to flatbush Kosher D for good chinese meal.
They will be missed.

Its very sad to see Kosher Delight close its final location. There fried chicken was great. I guess people will have to use the other Kosher Restaurants in Flatbush. I think the Hunberfields the owner of Kosher Delight actually owns the building therefore depending how much rent they will charge a tenant or will they sell the building to someone else will decide who will be taking it over.
They already own much of Avenue J properties. This is probably part of another real estate venture. No tears.
This was a basic business decision for the owners of Kosher Delight,they owned the property where the restaurant is located and they sold the property for a huge sum making a fantastic profit on this piece of land. This had nothing to do with less or more customers, business could have been booming but the price they got it was not worth their while to keep the restaurant open.
Most I’m gonna miss is mr (maxi) Shmuel shapiro who has been there for about 25 years since I’m a kid. Always a pleasure to interact with. Greeted each person with a smile and a comment. Ran the place so efficiently that allowed kd to even operate as long as they did . I wish him much Hatzlochah in their family business Maven Motors which they run with the utmost honesty and friendliness and whatever new endeavor he embarks on!!!
A bank branch will be opening there.
as one of their neighbors i wont miss the leftovers left on the sidewalk and dumped in the street and the other litter created by many of its patrons. nor will i miss the double parking for those who went in for their orders or the noise at 11:00 at night for all those who couldnt miss out on fast food so late at night. banks close at 3 and are closed motsai shabbos and sunday nights too. im not happy that the business closed down, but am very happy that the ywn prognosticators are predicting another bank.
Look at the upside. How many heart attacks have been prevented as a result? There is a reason places like this and Dougie’s have closed. In addition to serving up subpar food, they are cholesterol factories.

Too bad. There were several pregnancies during which the only thing I could keep down during the early months was their food (hard as that might be to believe). It’s a good thing I lived and worked nearby.
Whenever my husband would go to the States, he would buy and freeze a barrel of fried chicken to bring home; it was one of those treats my kids looked forward to.

Actually, Jew Yorker, I did best with their Fried Fish sandwich (their menu was pretty limited back then…)
But what difference does it make now. They’re gone.
