A Jewish man walking to synagogue was attacked and beaten by a Middle-Eastern man on Sunday morning in what has been confirmed as a hate crime.
Sources tell YWN that at approximately 7:30AM, a 62-year-old Jewish man was walking to Shul on 13th Avenue near 46 Street, carrying his Tallis and Tefillin. Suddenly, a vehicle screeched to a halt; the driver got out and ran towards the victim. He began punching him in his face and screaming at him – all in a totally unprovoked attack.
The man broke free from his attacker and began running towards 46th Street, but the suspect once again assaulted him in front of TD Bank.
The NYPD responded to reports of the assault and took the suspect into custody. The vehicle he was driving said “Church Ave Car Service” on it. Boro Park Shomrim were on the scene as well assisting police.
37-year-old Farrukh Afzal has been charged with a hate (bias) crime, criminal mischief and harassment. The Staten Island man has multiple arrests in his history.
Boro Park Hatzolah transported the victim to Maimonides Hospital with facial trauma, where he was treated and releases.

NYS Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) praised the NYPD following the quick apprehension of the suspect.
“This attack was inexcusable,” said Hikind, who remained in close contact with the Police Chief of Brooklyn South as well as Deputy Inspector David Wall, commanding officer of the 66th Precinct regarding the brutal beating. “Watching the video of the incident or just hearing about it is traumatizing—especially to children and the elderly here who survived the Holocaust. “Thank G-d this guy is off the streets, This isn’t the wild west; this is Borough Park. We won’t allow violent, hateful behavior taking place on our streets.”

Now let’s see if church ave car service will be boycotted! It’s about time they were, their drivers are dangerous (they’ve assaulted passengers on many occasions), they hike up the prices as pleases them.
I was there in the morning. The attacker was an Arabic man driving a Church Ave car service. stopped and ran after the old man (looked to me that he was older then 62) and punched him repeatedly in his face. The man was bleeding from his mouth and nose and was very shaken up. Scaryyyyyy to see this happening in the heart of our neighborhood.
A) Why is that guy just standing there behind the truck doing nothing? B) Why does the gentleman who was assaulted stop and turn towards the truck before the attack? Seems an odd thing to do in Boro Park. C) A boycott of Church car service is DEFINITELY in order.

The time has arrived for corporal punishment. Far less inhumane than an innocent man being beaten to a pulp on 13th Avenue.
Actually a lawsuit is in order. Boycott probably won?t do the trick. Very hard to organize too. A lawsuit is very very simple and very effective

Boycott the Car service?? It’s not like they have a choice (in this PC generation) of whom to hire. As a long time ‘Church’ customer I’ve learnt 2 things. A) the ‘non-Hispanic’ drivers all learnt how to drive ‘yesterday’, are slower to accommodate e.g. providing AC, and will always try to get an extra buck out of you. B) As a consumer you have the right to request a ‘Spanish driver ONLY’. This will send a message and go a lot further.

One could guess from the speed of the car in he video, but I looked it up on another site – the screech from car is what caught his attention and wanted to see what the noise was about.
What happened to the good old Chaptzem? Broad daylight in BP and he wasn?t caught and pummeled by us? In Israel he would have been shot by bystanders and with good reason. Vermin have no place in our society.
Not to in anyway justify this brazen act but something was left out of the story. Didn?t make sense that the man zoomed down the street, jumped out of the car and started pummeling the man.

Police say the victim is OK and recovering from wounds to his head. They also tell News 12 that there was some kind of confrontation between the two men before the attack happened.?

Why are the askanim afraid to come out with the real story. There is a major part missing here and the machers know it very well.

The guy claims he mistook him for someone who dared to hit (pedestrian, by hand, probably brushed us more like it) his car.
Really? He caught up with the pedestrian by speeding a few blocks?
Obviously, he was advised to say this in order to downgrade the charges from a hate crime.
