The New York state Senate has unanimously passed a bill that would correct the spelling of a bridge that has been wrong for over 50 years.
New York City’s Verrazano-Narrows Bridge is spelled with one “Z.” It should have two “Z’s” for Italian explorer Giovanni da Verrazzano, who discovered New York Harbor in 1524. The Staten Island Advance reports a Senate bill aimed at fixing the spelling passed 61-0 on Wednesday.
The bill has been sent to the Assembly, where it must pass a vote before heading to Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo (KWOH’-moh) for consideration. A previous bill stalled in the Assembly earlier this year.
A statue of Verrazzano in lower Manhattan includes the two “Z’s,” as does a bridge over Rhode Island’s Narragansett Bay.

That’s all nice and sweet, but how much will this cost US the dumb stupid guillibe taxpayers???
Maybe they should change the prices also!
I thought it got its name because during the planning board’s meeting in the park by Denyse Wharf to name the bridge, they overheard a Russian mother who was searching for her son named Ono. (Ver iz Ono??!!!)
To HiSwill18: Never suggest a change in prices to a government authority. The price will only go up.
To NGI: you raise a good point. But signs have to be replaced as they wear out, and the replacements could contain the corrrections.
I guess they have nothing better to do
Will they need to increase taxes, tolls or both to accomplish this? Will it be a “temporary” tax that gets extended for decades?
