Aides to Rav Mordechai Eliyahu Shlita report the former chief rabbi’s condition remains serious but he is showing signs of improvement. Rav Eliyahu, who is on of the Gedolei Hador underwent emergency open heart surgery on Monday, following which doctors reported the three days after surgery will be the critical time period during which Am Yisrael has been asked to continue davening on his behalf, Mordechai Tzemach ben Mazel.
Rabbonim in Eretz Yisrael are also calling for a taanis dibur on Thursday, the second day of Rosh Chodesh Mar Cheshvan.
Rav Eliyahu remains hospitalized in an intensive care unit in Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Yerushalayim.
