Air Canada Blames “Display Issue” for Removal of Israel from In-Flight Map

Air Canada is blaming a “display issue” after passengers on a recent flight discovered that Israel had been removed from the airline’s in-flight interactive map and relabeled as the “Palestinian Territories.”

In a statement addressing controversy, the airline attributed the change to a technical display problem affecting its Boeing 737 aircraft.

“Air Canada has been made aware of a display issue with the interactive map on the IFE systems of its B737 aircraft,” the airline said in response to an image of the altered flight map posted on social media.

“The issue has affected other carriers using the same system and we are working with the third-party provider on a remedy,” the airline added, indicating that the issue was not unique to Air Canada.

The incident is reminiscent of a similar controversy last September when JetBlue passengers noticed Israel’s name missing from their in-flight maps. At the time, JetBlue cited a third-party vendor as the source of the change and later decided to switch to a new map provider following a careful review.

Air Canada has not yet clarified whether it will take similar steps.

They also seemed to remove Jordan. Perhaps it was based on the original borders of British Palestine (before various partitions), in which case they seem to be supporting the view, now considered extreme, that both banks of the Jordan should be considered Eretz Yisrael.

Don’t be such a serious Zionist idolater. It is very likely a third-party provider that is at-fault, as they indicated.

I am glad they are following the original Arafat view of how big the “territories” was to be before they changed it to the current nonsense.
