A Jerusalem police spokesman reports that five policemen were injured when rocks and bottles were thrown at them during violent protests held by dozens of chareidim at Kikar Shabbos and Shomrei Emunim. Garbage bins were set ablaze and the small number of protestors worked to block the streets, albeit without success as police used riot control means to disperse them.
Violence erupted in the area of Bucharim Street as well after a soldier passed in uniform, coming under attack as well. Police extricated the soldier from the area without injury.
