NJ Man Arrested For Owing More Than 1 Million Dollars In EZ Pass Tolls

ezpA New Jersey man was arrested Thursday while trying to board a plane to Aruba at Newark Liberty International Airport.

Police say 34-year-old, Lester Morales, of Little Ferry, has been charged with theft of services for racking up more than a million dollars in unpaid tolls and fees through E-ZPass.

An investigation found Morales’ trucking company, EAB Transport LLC/Do it Right Trucking, was using a delinquent E-ZPass account for over a year.

Police say Morales had trucks driving through tolls more than a hundred times per day using the delinquent account.

Morales is being held without bail at the Middlesex County Jail.

If the state cannot get its due tolls from a Morales, how could we expect those people to pay for the whole wall?

Re comment no. 1: Funniest racist comment of all time. I like it.

As an E-Z pass holder, I presume I and all other holders are picking up the slack for Mr. Morales’s default. I do not understand why the E-Z pass folks are so lax in their collection efforts. Surely there is technology that would allow them to corral Mr. M’s trucks when they attempt to go through E-Z pass lanes. And those trucks have value. The fees can be collected out of the proceeds of the sales of those trucks.
