Mayor Bill de Blasio wants to change part of a law that bars the release of disciplinary records for cops and other uniformed personnel.
He’s taking aim at the rule the city cited in its refusal to release records in the Eric Garner case.
It specifically involves officer Daniel Pantaleo, who used a deadly chokehold on Garner in 2014.
Under the proposal, the results of NYPD personnel cases prosecuted by the Civilian Complaint Review Board would be posted online.
A host of civil rights groups and elected officials are calling on the CCRB to release what’s known as a summary of misconduct for officer Pantaleo.
In a statement, de Blasio says the measure is flawed and hopes the changes will add “greater transparency.”
Amendments to the Civil Rights Law are set to go up for vote during next year’s legislative session.

another bad idea. these cops are an authority. you cant discipline them in public. it undermines their authority. but of course deblazio is not very smart and he hates cops so i dont expect better from him.
