One Million Expected In Times Square For New Year’s Eve

nyeAn estimated 1 million revelers are expected in New York City for the annual New Year’s Eve celebration in Times Square.

People usually begin filling the square long before sundown for the televised spectacle.

It is often a frigid wait for performers, but temperatures this year are expected to be in the low 40s.

This year’s festivities will also be attended by nearly 6,000 New York City police officers, charged with keeping partygoers safe.

Even after a year of headlines over extremist attacks, New York police are encouraging partygoers to come to the celebration and “leave the worrying to us.”
