Crown Heights Shmira members responded to a scene Wednesday afternoon, on Kingston Avenue near President Street where a male black, who bystanders overheard yelling anti-Semitic slurs, took a hammer out of his car and smashed the window of a parked car.
The perpetrator claimed that the owner of the vehicle had thrown an onion at his car and therefore felt justified in his actions.
Police soon arrived and after questioning the perpetrator, he readily admitted to the crime, and was placed under arrest.
He is being charged with criminal mischief.
