A motorist is suing New York City over a traffic-camera ticket he says was unjust. As it happens, he’s a judge.
Manhattan state Supreme Court Justice Geoffrey Wright sued Wednesday in the same court. City lawyers said they would review the suit upon receiving it.
Wright says his family got a notice saying a camera caught his car being driven in a Manhattan bus lane last October.
He says it wasn’t.
He later took his own photographs that he says back him up. They’re based on where certain street features were located in respect to his car.
He contested the violation and appealed an administrative law judge’s ruling against him. His suit seeks to get the violation thrown out.
It’s unclear which judge will be assigned to handle the case.

I received a bus lane ticket in Manhattan, because i went around a stalled car in the intersection. Tried to appeal – got nowhere…
Maybe the judge can serve some justice…
Maybe he’ll luck-out and get assigned his own case.
Otherwise it isn’t too bad, anyways, for him. All the other judges working in the same court as him like him and wouldn’t want to irritate him by ruling against him.
THis case reeks because a judge is the victim. When he gets off scott free, the papers will not report it for corruption always finds a hiding place.
You cant take it don’t dish it out
The system of ticketing stinks. If there is evidence, then produce it else the driver goes free.
An administrative judge won’r rule against his employer (often).
I believe it’s entrapment and the camera should be abolished from new york. The camera is linked to the light controller which speeds the timing of the signal so that you’ll definitely get a ticket (hard to prove but I’ve seen it happen). Not only does the city get your nice earn dollars but also the camera operators. Next Up..Get a ticket by walking the wrong way.
Unless he is accusing the city of doctoring its photos, a photo is a pretty compelling piece of evidence. What is his claim, it is an optical illusion?
I thought, in America, you are “innocent until proven guilty”? Apparently when it comes to tickets under the “GOTCHA” program, you are GUILTY no matter what!
As far as this Judge is concerned, its good for him to get a little taste of his own medicine. Maybe he wont be so quick to find the next taxpayer standing before him, guilty.
Let him eat his own pie!
