Dozens of Jewish American celebrities, artists, and hundreds of “rabbis” have taken out a full-page ad in The New York Times denouncing what they call ethnic cleansing in Gaza.
The ad, appearing on page A7, is a direct response to President Donald Trumps calls to permanently relocate Gazas population, a proposal he has repeatedly pushed since taking office last month. The text of the ad reads:
“Trump has called for the removal of all Palestinians from Gaza. Jewish people say NO to ethnic cleansing!”
Among the signatories are actors Joaquin Phoenix and his siblings Summer and Rain, Ilana Glazer, Eric Andr, and playwright Tony Kushner, alongside public intellectuals like Naomi Klein and Peter Beinart. Many of the signatories have previously spoken out in support of Palestinians.
The ad is also signed by hundreds of “rabbis,” including Sharon Brous, Amichai Lau-Lavie, Sally Priesand, and Alissa Wisemany of whom have been vocal supporters of Israel since the October 7 Hamas attack but are now speaking out against Trumps Gaza policy.
The ad is tied to the In Our Name Campaign, an initiative founded by Jewish philanthropists aiming to raise $10 million for Palestinian-led efforts and pro-Palestinian organizing in the U.S.

I mean it literally is ethnic cleansing. But under international law it isn’t a crime by itself. And it’s probably the best bet for peace in the region.

Unfortunately (or actually, fortunately), most of those “rabbis” probably are not halachicly Jewish and the celebrities are certainly not practicing Jews even if some are Jewish born.
Forget about garbage like that – the question is how is Trump going to react to the letter from the Democrats?
It is safe to assume that none of the signators view Judaism solely in term of the keeping the Torah given on Har Sinai. The overwhelming majority are anti what it says too.
