A tragedy occurred in Israel on Wednesday morning when a 67-year-old Bnei Brak resident choked to death while eating a doughnut.
Paramedics who arrived at the scene carried out resuscitation techniques for a prolonged period of time and removed pieces of doughnut dough from his throat but were ultimately forced to declare his death.
On Monday, two men choked while eating a doughnut, with one man, a 70-year-old resident of Netanya, passing away, and the second man, a 61-year-old resident of Ofakim, evacuated to the hospital in serious condition, where he is now sedated and ventilated.
A statement from Magen Dovid Adom said: “Doughnut dough may be dangerous for babies, children, the elderly, and people who suffer from swallowing problems. The doughnut should be cut into small pieces and [those vulnerable] should be monitored while eating.”
