Amiram Ben Uliel, who was convicted of three counts of murder in a 2015 arson attack in the Arab village of Kfar Duma, is suing the Shin Bet for NIS 5 million ($1.4 million), his attorney Menashe Yado announced on Tuesday.

Ben Uliel, who was sentenced to three life terms, was convicted on the basis of his confession obtained under torture, which he subsequently recanted.

Yado stated that the details of the severe physical torture his client endured in the Shin Bet’s efforts to extract a confession are under a gag order but he can reveal the harm Ben Uliel endured in the period prior to the torture.

The lawsuit stated that “the plaintiff was subjected to humiliation, prolonged shackles without legal justification, cold showers, and a winter night in an unheated cell without a coat or blanket.” He was also subject to religious harassment “by the intentional and prolonged playing of women’s singing and a woman’s intentional touching of the plaintiff’s body.”

Ben Uliel also endured severe physical torture for two days before issuing a confession, a claim confirmed by the Supreme Court.

More need to sue the regime over torture. Anyone would admit to anything to get out of torture in the Russian Compound or a Shin Ben enhanced interrogation. It is worth destroying the entire G-d-forsaken state to prevent another Jew from being tortured in this way. Anyone who defends the treatment that this Jew received in Yisroel, honestly, we’re not of the same nation, and I hope you got your boosters.

Strange how YWN refers to him as ‘the Duma attacker’, when there’s actually very little evidence against him.
The conviction rested primarily on an admission that happened under very questionable circumstances. all the physical evidence pointed away from him.

Sara Rifka :it is your word against his . He was severly tortured to squeeze out a confession as in the evil times of the inquisition : On which information do you base your accusation ?

More confessions have been overturned because of torture used to get a confessional. After several days of this you would sign you killed your living mother just to get it yo stop
    It proves nothing either way
