Tragedy In Israel: One Wedding Results In Three Levayos

A wedding in an open area. (Israel Police spokesperson)

A wedding took place in Israel in September that had far-reaching and devastating consequences, including three deaths, Channel 13 News reported this week.

About 100 people were present at the wedding and the majority of them were not wearing masks and social distancing regulations were violated.

A “superspreader” couple from central Israel, unaware that they were positive for the coronavirus, attended the wedding and unwittingly infected 43 others, with three becoming seriously ill and eventually succumbing to the virus.

The couple began to have symptoms of the coronavirus the day after the wedding but by then the damage had been done.

One of the guests who contracted the virus at the wedding was former Shin Bet deputy director Yitzchak Ilan, who passed away a month later at the age of 64.

People who say others caused someone’s death by spreading the virus don’t have emunah in Hashem. A person dies because Hashem wants him too, whether from Corona, a car accident, peacefully in his own bed, old age etc. Hashem chooses the method how a person dies. If it is not destined for him to die, he can be exposed to Corona, be in an accident etc. and he won’t die.

FAKE NEWS!! You have no way of knowing where someone caught the virus. Stop spreading the lies of the media

To know that I have caused someone’s death, by not adhering to social distancing rules, is not something I would want to live with.

And there are those that say Corona virus is a hoax. I wonder what these people do when they have a heart attack. They go running to doctors and health professionals to get help. So why cant they listen to health professionals now who say that social distancing will help slow the spread until a vaccine is available? Why are they so uncaring about other people’s lives ?

Why doesn’t anyone get it? Why are these unsecured events taking place? If adults can’t be trusted to abide by regulations & basic common sense, this is the result. It’s an avoidable tragedy, and meanwhile, I don’t go anywhere unless it’s absolutely essential (dentist, grocery, that’s it!) I wear a mask, I keep well away from others as far as I can and I’m high risk. This will never go away unless there is 100% lockdown for weeks & the IDF patrols the streets.

But people continue to attend simachot in large numbers anyway, without masks, without distancing. Just lovely.

I love the way the Israelis have ?figured it out?. An obvious opinion is presented as fact. We don?t ?know? anything about how these people caught the virus, we just have possibilities, and if that?s the case, a ?news? piece should not claim otherwise.

    BS”D
Dr. Zelenko’s protocol, started within the first 6 days of symptoms, has close to 100% success rate in preventing hospitalizations and deaths in high risk patients.
What does it tell you when a government won’t allow its use?

What is wrong with people? The wedding should not have taken place at all without precautions. Sadly, this is probably why numbers are spiking all over the world

Funny how we are missing all the regular anti frum/anti chassidish commenters on this particular article because they can’t spew their regular plethora of hateful comments on how the frum are the only ones flouting the virus rules. To their consternation it seems like this was actually a chiloni or modern event as it seems from the fact that Yitzchak Ilan was in attendence. But don’t worry ya’ll maybe you’ll have another article to spew your hatred on in the near future.

Some comments have stated that since Hashem ultimately decides a person’s lifespan and health, the article should not accuse others of causing another’s death. These comments miss a crucial theological point. The fact that ultimately Hashem’s decides a person’s fate does not exempt a person from violation of causing the death of another or of himself. Hashem caused the decree of ????? ????? to happen; yet, Pharaoh was still held responsible because he willfully subjugated, tortured and killed (or at least attempted to kill) many of the Jews. Negligence in taking necessary precautions to not harm another is a grave sin and should not be taken lightly or excused based on the principle of Hashem ultimately running the world. Otherwise, no one would be held accountable. This is a crucial concept in terms of responsibility of guarding one’s health and the health of others.
