[VIDEO LINK BELOW] On Sunday forces from the IDF Search and Rescue unit of the Home Front Command rescued a 52 year old man alive from the rubble. The man was rescued in good condition, but was suffering from wounds in his limbs and from dehydration. The victim was able to communicate his location by sending SMS messages. Israeli forces were dispatched to the location and were finally able to hear his voice near the wreckage. The Search and Rescue forces were able to rescue him after six hours
Col. (res) Gil Shanav from the Search and Rescue unit of the Home Front Command reported to Army Radio: “We sent our forces to the area and established contact with the trapped civilian who was beneath two stories of rubble. We had to build a tunnel to get to his location and after six hours we were able to rescue him.”
Additionally, Army Radio reported that the man rescued was an income tax official who was trapped for four days under the rubble of the Tax Authority office in the capital of Port-au-Prince. He was transferred for treatment at the field hospital set up by the Israeli delegation.

Let’s see some of those anti-semites post this video or news of us yidden helping & saving people who aren’t one of us. Maybe they will finally see that Israelis (read: Jews) ARE compassionate. Think that’s possible…at all?

Also, the caption given when the rescue coordinator speak writes: “Daniel Kedar Israeli rescue coordinator”
You are right, they did not mention. Although they did give credit, a mention would have been much more powerful.
I would not read into the situation too much, though.

This is not a time for jokes about the restrictions some rabbonim have suggested on internet or text messaging. Like any other new invention, it has potential for good AND bad. Before the invention of cars, we didn’t have to worry about driving on shabbos. Airplanes raise halachic issues the gadolim never thought about. The internet can be a force for positive and negative. Hopefully, there will be some “middle tround” that will allow for continued access to this powerful new technoglogy.
