VIDEO: Rabbi Yaakov Salomon Slams Pope & Vatican

ys.jpg

VIDEO LINK BELOW: Four days ago YWN reported that Pope Benedict XVI had lifted the excommunications of four bishops, including Holocaust denier Bishop Williamson. (The four were excommunicated 20 years ago.)

The decision was met with much protest from Jewish organizations across the globe. On Tuesday, the Chief Rabbinate of Israel took a bold step in the right direction, by officially breaking ties with the Vatican in response to the last week’s decision by Pope Benedict XVI.

Among Bishop Williamson’s many anti-Semitic statements he’s made over the years denying the Holocaust, is his notorious statement in which the bishop claims that he has gathered evidence that “strongly questions if 6 million Jews were gassed”.

The most recent statement of protest comes in video format and was recorded by from Rabbi Yaakov Salomon for Aish.

    Thank you Rabbi Salomon

Makes you wonder: A Bishop who denies the Holocaust is reinstated. By the same religion that burned Jews on the stake for denying the accuracy of the so-called New Testament!

    Hypocrites!

Watched the video…thank you Rabbi Salomon for saying that which must be said. The Pope is totally out of line here and made himself an object of displeasure with the entire Jewish world. Maybe the Pope’s old days as a member of the Hitler Youth are coming to the surface. Shame on him!!

Seems strange to deny the Holocaust after all his current pope was a member of the Hilter Youth.

Holocaust deniers and their enablers must be fought. As time marches on and that heroic generation passes on,it becomes our responsibility to confront these deniers at every step.
This same Pope Y?S was welcomed by Rabbi Arthur Schnier at the Park East Synagogue to the dismay of many in the ?spirit? of ?friendship?.
Kol Hakovod to the Chief Rabbinate for doing the right thing and Kol Hakovod to Rabbi Saloman.

This is ridiculous. First of all, the current pope was never a Nazi or a Nazi supporter. It is pure libel to claim that he was.

Williamson is certainly an antisemite, but what has that got to do with the Pope? Did the Pope give him a position in the Vatican? All he did was remove him from an excommunication, that he didn’t get for his antisemitism but for a completely unrelated reason. If Bill Moyers were to be caught dealing drugs, and were eventually to come up for parole, would you oppose it just because he’s an antisemite? Or would you say that the panel that granted parole was endorsing his antisemitism? What has one thing got to do with the other? Letting someone out of jail, or out of a cherem, is not the same as endorsing their views! (And that’s all supposing the Pope even knew about Williamson’s views on this subject. There’s no reason why he should have known.)

WHETHER THE POPE IS OR IS NOT AN ANTI-SEMITE OR A NAZI SYMPATHIZER IS NOT THE ISSUE HERE.
THIS DENIER Williamson HAS BEEN LEGITIMIZED BY THE SAME CHURCH THAT EXCOMMUNICATED HIM PREVIOUSLY AND IT IS THE THIS POPE THAT ENABLED IT. FACT!
BECAUSE THIS POPE IS OF GERMAN ORIGIN, HE MUST GO OUT OF HIS WAY TO KEEP CLEAR OF THESE TYPE OF ISSUES OR HE WILL BEAR THE DESERVING CRITICISM AND REPUDIATION THAT ENSUES.
THAT YOU DON’T GET IT- IS VERY TROUBLING!
