The IDF on Thursday announced the death of Sgt. First Class Yonatan Chatzor, H’yd, 22, from Katzir, a soldier in the Air Force’s Shaldag unit. He was killed in a battle in the northern Gaza Strip.
Chatzor, z’l, is the seventh member of the elite Shaldag unit to lose his life in battle since the war began.
A few hours earlier the IDF announced the death of Major (res.) Yaacov Ozeri HY”D, 28, from Kfar Shamai, a soldier in the 52nd Battalion, 401st Brigade, killed while fighting in the Gaza Strip.
Their deaths bring the total number of IDF soldiers killed in the Gaza war to 32 and 350 since October 7th.
Additionally, the IDF announced that 3 soldiers were seriously injured last night during fighting in Gaza.

YWN – thank you for keeping your audience informed when a member of the IDF is killed, but you’re getting the ranks wrong. Yaakov Ozeri, HY”D, was a Sargeant-Major (a senior non-commissioned officer), not a Major (a mid-level commissioned officer, but a significantly higher rank than a Sargent-Major). While each Jewish (or other IDF soldier’s) life lost is a tragedy, the military significance is very different.

YWN. Your counting is wrong. The total death toll of IDF soldiers killed sine the ground assault began is unfortunately now holding at 33, not 32 as you mention. While every Jewish life lost is a major tragedy the IDF officials say that they expected the casualties to be much higher at this time after the ground invasion is in it’s 13th day. We see that our tfilios are really being accepted. Let’s keep up our good deads.
