The famed philanthropist Reb Shlomo Yehuda Rechnitz spent Sukkos in Yerushalayim, staying in his new apartment, located near Shefa Mall and the Chassidic courts of Gur and Belz, for the first time.
On Leil Simchas Torah, Reb Rechnitz purchased the Belzer Rebbe’s Aliyah L’Torah for a quarter of a million dollars. It was arranged beforehand that the funds will be used for “Mercaz Mosdos Belz’ and the Belzer kollelim. Rechnitz also purchased all the chashuve kibbudim in honor of the Belzer Rebbe, including “Ata Hareisa,” Chasan Torah and Chasan Bereishis.
Rechnitz did the same for the Gerrer Rebbe, purchasing his Aliyah L’Torah for a quarter of a million dollars as well as “Ata Hareisa,” Chasan Torah and Chasan Bereishis.
Of course, for Rechnitz, it was Shemini Atzeres and not Simchas Torah and he did not participate in the hakafos.
Just half a year ago, Reb Rechnitz donated millions of dollars to Mir Avreichim and other families for Pesach. He did the same prior to Pesach of 2020.

Meir: that “dot” actually has meaning to most of us…it denotes a “fraction”of the million unit. In addition to your need for remedial work on math, your marketing skills also need sharpening. The whole purpose of the article is to highlight the generosity of this incredible baal tzadakah. Contributions totaling “a half million dollars” grab more eyeballs than “hundreds of thousands”.

The rebbe, or even a plain shul rabbi, wouldn’t get an aliya in his own shul if no one “bought” it?
What a Zchus to be able to give tzedakah in those amounts.
meir, why knock the headline or donation? its more then you or i donated
the fact he gave tzedoka in those amounts to places he never gave to raises the bar for other gevirim especially of those chasidim themselves ,if an outsider can give such amounts that obligates the chasidim themselves to give
and since the reichmans we dont have gevirim who give out large sums and those that do should be lauded publicly for it
dwkl1- i wasnt at all knocking rechnitz or the tzedaka , i was knocking YW and the snyde headline , those that are in tune with the yeshiva world & chassidish world & gevirishe world know that the article was written with a twist and not as a sincere kavod for a tzedaka donation ,
