Hispanic is an ethnicity not a race. Although and individual can self-identify with any race or ethnicity the census bureau defines “Spanish/Hispanic/Latino” as “a person of Cuban, Mexican, Puerto Rican, South or Central American, or other Spanish culture or origin regardless of race”. Encouraging students to identify as Hispanic sounds like fraud to skew the school’s results.
