there are certain professions where tips are considered part of
employees’ compensation. Waiters and waitresses, cab drivers, etc.
are examples of same. Employers pay them less as the tips are considered in the equation. People utilizing their services recognize this and know they are expected to tip. Delivery persons fall into this category too. I know of restaurants that don’t pay their delivery persons ANYTHING. On the contrary, the delivery person has to pay the restaurant UPFRONT the tab for the delivery and then gets to keep what he collects.
