i would say that my most controversial opinion is probably that the frum community, right wing more, left wing less, turns a blind eye to obvious problems like sexual abuse, mental illness, drug abuse (especially drug abuse) alcohol abuse, domestic violence, spousal infidelity, etc…because we have this idea that simply calling ourselves “frum” means that we are perfect. just because we call ourselves “frum.”
this applies more to chassidim, a bit less to yeshivish et al., and even less to Modern Orthodox.
