There was story of a very wealthy man who lived very modestly to the point where pple accused him of being a hapless miser. Word got around that he never gave any tzedakah etc…..
When he was niftar, they found in his safe tons of invoices with his signature for all sorts of charities. He wanted to give quietly as not to get any recognition.
