If the bee traps were assur (tzaar baal chaim), then why would any of the Judaica shops be selling them? There is a halacha that if someone comes to kill you, you should get up and kill them first. In my family, many of us are highly allergic to bee stings, my husband and my son in particular. We are not supposed to kill them on Shabbos and Yom tov, so it seems a fair compromise to let them wander in to the traps. After all, they just as easily might NOT wander in, they only go in because they are greedy. (I wrote this slightly tongue in cheek, so don’t all get upset).
