Rashi writes that Chazal say 80% of Yidden were unworthy of Yetzias Mitzrayim and died in Mitzrayim. The Mechilta (Yesh Omrim) says only 1 in 50 came out of Mitzrayim. The Seforim HaKedsohim similarly say, based on the Midrash Tanchuma, that when Moshiach comes bmehero byomeinu that only one in five Jews will be saved.
