You are quite correct about the mitzva to conquer and settle the land, I learned that clearly in a black hat yeshiva in Israel.
Certainly when the UN General Assembly in 1947 votes to give part of the Land of Israel to the Jews, we are absolutely required to take possession of it.

The greatest rabbis all ruled that there is a continuing mitzvah of “yishuv Eretz Yisrael”, it is clear that to perform this mitzvah requires a Jewish state and a Jewish army.
The notion of a “gezeiras galus” where allegedly Jews are required to abandon the Land of Israel to the non-Jews is a pure Reformadox invention.
The Reformadox ideology is being heavily financed by NYC Democrats with long beards and black hats, who spew fake “Judaism” while protesting against Israel with their genocidal Islamo-Marxist brothers.
These Reformadox may perform Jewish ritual in their temples, but outside their temples their agenda is the pure apikorus Democrat/Islamist religion where the Land of Israel is morphed into a “Fakestine” state and there are no Jews present, God forbid.
