I would assume if no additional mass is added, there is no material expenditure of “energy” required to sustain forward movement in an elevator context. This suggests that Musk should consider changing their technology from an electro/ chemical reaction (battery) based vehicular propulsion system, to a FLYWHEEL/electro-mechanical based system.
