Amid Israel’s unprecedented war on multiple fronts, Israel’s Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara escalated her obsessive war against the Olam HaTorah on Monday, freezing the transfer of millions of dollars to Chareidi yeshivos only hours after the government passed the budget, and submitting a notice to the Supreme Court outlining a series of economic and civil sanctions against bnei yeshivos who fail to enlist.
The document, formulated under her deputy, attorney Gil Limon, details a long list of economic measures that she demands be immediately implemented against bnei yeshivos, including the revocation of discounts on public transportation, subsidized daycare under all criteria, participation in funding after‑school programs, and property tax discounts.
In addition, Baharav-Miara detailed a series of other measures that extend beyond individuals to institutions and programs, demanding that the state enforce full compliance with military‑status requirements, including scholarships and study‑funding programs, student assistance programs, participation in civil‑service tenders, support for Torah institutions, subsidized daycare in programs designated for Torah students, National Insurance discounts, programs for at‑risk Chareidi youth, and technological‑student tracks through the Ministry of Labor. The Attorney General is demanding the prevention of any state funding that may support those who choose limmud Torah over military service.
She further outlined “high-impact measures” to be considered later, including revoking rental assistance, housing loans, and even limiting tax exemptions on property transactions, steps that professionals warn could push thousands of families below the poverty line.
In the document, Baharav-Miara demands that all state authorities act immediately to intensify enforcement efforts, including criminal disciplinary and criminal measures against “draft dodgers” themselves and through withdrawing government funding that directly or indirectly supports them.
Baharav-Miara’s notice to the court is far more than a technical legal document but marks a clear shift to a more aggressive policy, demanding that the government leverage budgetary tools, welfare benefits, and civil‑service mechanisms to persecute the Olam HaTorah.

The headline should be:
As Israel Fights Its Enemies, The Olam HaTorah Takes a Month off To Hang Out at the Kinneret
This is not about drafting, which she knows is not happening, it is PERSECUTION plain and simple!
One evil witch has more control than the whole Mossad,Knesset and citizens. You need to have protests at ger home as well as all her families homes with thousand of Chareidim. What I find interesting is that no missles hit Meah shearim where there are hardly safe rooms or basement shelters. Maybe its because those Jews stood up fighting for shabbos and all the other issues turning Israel into a Sodom. Bnei brak today is not the same as it was back then where very one was religious and no bombs hit them. It also borders on the lowest area Israel known as Tel Aviv aka sin city. You must at least do outreach and be mocha when you see evil.
Don’t want to spend on the Torah we end up spending infinitely more on defense. So there’s your savings
You seem to forget that to most Israelis, or at least most of the upper class that controls the legal system, the economy and the military, regard Olam ha-Torah as the “enemy”, and see Iran and its flunkies as no more than a nuisance.
The story isn’t clear: is this in Jordan or Turkey? Or maybe Yemen or Qatar!
I will be paraphrasing from the website named Sefaria.org for my rebuttal to the above horrible state of Torah Study Lifestyle affairs of Eretz Yisroel’s Attorney General, a woman; “Women, slaves, and minors are free from the obligation of Torah study. Nevertheless, a Father is obligated to teach his son Torah while he is a minor, as (Devarim 11:19) states: “And you shall teach them to your sons to speak about them.” A woman is not obligated to teach her son, for only those who are obligated to learn are obligated to teach. Just as a person is obligated to teach his son, so, too, is he obligated to teach his grandson, as (Devarim 4:9) commands: “And you shall teach them to your sons and your grandsons.” (Furthermore, this charge is not confined) to one’s children and grandchildren alone. Rather, it is a Mitzvah for each and every wise man to teach all students, even though they are not his children. As (Devarim 6:7) states: “And you shall teach them to your sons…” The Oral Tradition explains: “Your sons,” these are your students, for students are also called sons, as (Kings 2 2:3) states: “And the sons of the prophets went forth.””
These Torah explanations above will serve to explain why I have reservations about a woman Attorney General in Eretz Yisroel commanding that Torah Obligated Sons who need to learn Torah are being denied their rights to learn Torah; and a women is not qualified to make a determination about their required need to learn/study/and “Lein” Torah. How can she know what a Jewish Torah Man/Son needs? She arranges for monies to be withheld from Torah Study Institutions in Eretz Yisroel but she as a woman can not know what the requirement is for a Torah Man/Son to study Torah exclusively (sometimes with employment, but many times not). To withhold necessary monies as a “PUNISHMENT” to harm and to hurt Jewish Torah Men/Sons as a way to state unequivocally that “You Torah Loving Men/Sons will not receive monies to support your Torah Study Required Lifestyle. Instead, of coming to willingly serve in the IDF or other Eretz Yisroel military you will receive no money to survive in Eretz Yisroel. No money will be given to you to support your young family/Mishpocha. No money will be given to you to buy Torah Seforim to study with. No money will be given to you to find a proper Torah Teacher/Rabbi to Learn Torah From. You will just be hung out to dry and who cares about you anyway. I, Attorney General certainly do not care about your Torah Study plans. Get lost!” These comments are not fact, but they are my considered opinion about this Eretz Yisroel Attorney General who also happens to be a woman in charge of a great deal of funding that could ultimately benefit Torah Study Institutions.
I want to state for the record that a woman Attorney General can not make competent decisions regarding a Torah Man/Sons Study needs with H”M. She just can’t. As It is state in Sefaria.org based on Torah Parshas, “Women are free from the obligation of Torah Study.” How can a female/woman know what a Torah Man/Son needs? How can she properly decide for Jewish Torah Males what is the proper way to help them to serve their Creator? She just can’t. Case closed.
